Event Details

Come join Axelle Tessandier, Head of Marketing at the publishing-by-curation platform, Scoop.it,  as she teaches a 3-class series full of practical information, tips and tools on how to become a great curator on nowadays technological age. She will use journalism, blogging and education examples as a medium to exemplify her class content.

Attend the whole series of sessions or just one of the sessions, there are no prerequisites for any except thirst for curation learning! Axelle will make sure to make room at the end of all sessions for your questions.

As in all pariSoma classes, snacks and beverages will be provided!

 

10/17: Session #1: Intro to Curation

Main topic questions include:

- What is a Curator?

- What makes a Good Curator?

- Is there are difference between Curator & Creator?

Buzzwords: etymology, history, museum, resource, sources, passion, transmission, curator vs. creator, natural born, skills.

 

10/24: Session #2: Humanrithm > Algorithms

Main topic questions include:

- What are the differences and similitudes between Curation and Aggregation?

- What are experts saying about the Age of Information Abundance?

- What is a Context Online and what is not?

Buzzwords: point of view, automatization, Brian Solis, digital home, Clay Shirky Theory, the filter bubble talk, Eli Pariser, Twitter, Facebook, Blog, digital context, Steve Rubell, TNW Amsterdam, digital embassy

 

10/31: Session #3: Curation Tools

Main topic questions include:

- What are Curation Tools and how are they defined by their Users?

- What are the what, who, and how's of Scoop.It?

- How to make sure the web is still meaningful?

Buzzwords: Twitter, RSS Feed, Scoop.It, Storify, tools, needs, buzzword, beyond the hype, Howard Rheingold, Robin Good

 

More About Your Instructor 

Axelle Tessandier is a social media addict, writer, Internet explorer and an eternal learner. Axelle did a masters in Audiovisual, Media Law and Communications at La Sorbonne in Paris. After different experiences in media, TV, press and foremost cinema, she helped green organizations to communicate using the digital environment. A few months later, Axelle was chosen to participate in the innovation program Palomar5 in Berlin. At the end of the innovation camp, they started a pilot collaborative hub in San Francisco with GAFFTA, where she was a resident artist. She writes for different sites such as The Next Web and participating in new journalistic innovations like LongShotMag. Axelle also develops the Scoop.it brand!!&a
